Repair Clinics at Frankie Flats

We've been approached by many customers who want to know if there is a place in town where they can learn the basics of bicycle mechanics. So often we assist people who come into the shop that need a simple brake or derailleur adjustment (a job that takes about five minutes), but had to drive to the shop and all we did was turn a barrel or screw and the problem was resolved.

Frankie Flats thinks all cyclists should have the opportunity to learn these simple skills because it will save them time and effort, and also give them a closer "connection" with their bike(s).

Frankie Flats will offer a basic bicycle repair clinic. There will be two formats:

1) Group sessions
2) One-on-one sessions.

Each clinic is approximately three hours in length and will cover topics such as brake and derailleur adjustments, minor wheel truing, tightening a headset and much more.

Group Sessions

There is a $50 session fee with a maximum of three students per class. Students are provided with an outline as well as a repair pamphlet for future reference. Students receive a 10% discount on any parts or accessories ordered during the session. They leave with the confidence of knowing how their bike works and how to be self sufficient with simple mechanical problems. Bikes supplied for the session, but students should feel free to bring their own bike if they have any specific questions

One-on-One Session

There is a $150 session fee. Students are provided with an outline as well as Park Tool's "Big Blue Book of Bike Repair." Students receive a 15% discount on all parts and accessories purchased during the session. Because of the intimacy of the session, we use the Student's bike as the main subject and therefore give the bike a full tune-up during the course of the class. Students leave with a freshly tuned ride and the know-how to approach future mechanical issues.
